European Commission publishes follow-up report on cross-border e-commerce

The European Commission released today its follow-up report to the March 2009 report on cross-border e-commerce in the EU. The new report, published on 22 October 2009, aims to check the availability of products and to quantify the savings European Consumers can make when shopping cross-border online, which illustrates why it is important to increase efforts to combat the above-mentioned barriers.


eBay response – EU Legal Framework for the Protection of Personal Data

December 2009 - eBay strongly supports the European Commission's continued efforts to protect consumer privacy while promoting innovative approaches that maximise the benefits of online activity. eBay's submission to the European Commission's consultation on the current legal framework and the future of data protection (mainly concerning the general EU Data Protection Directive - Directive 95/46/EC) reflects this strong belief and highlights three specific priority areas: Binding Corporate Rules, Government Requests for Third Party Information and Online Advertising.
